Bollywood has a history of portrayal of brother-sister relationships in its own 'peculiar' ways.

Not every brother-sister relationship is a lovey-dovey one, and for the most part, it isn’t the kind that fits into 'Ek hazaaro mein meri behna hai' category. Minor tiffs, disagreements are a ritual in bhai-behen rishta. Indian cinema has covered the different aspects of this beautiful relationship in multiple ways.

While most of the time the casting actors for the roles of brother and sister is totally apt, there have been occasions where it was completely shocking. We bring you the list of top 10 movies that featured the odd-est of brother-sister duos.

1. 'Dil Dhadakne Do'

'Dil Dhadakne Do', a star-studded film, featured two of the hottest actors from the industry as brother and sister. Ranveer Singh as Kabir and Priyanka Chopra as Ayesha and both of them as siblings wasn’t easy for the viewers to accept. Playing the role of a perfect brother, Kabir was seen supporting his sister’s decisions and also taking minor digs at her, all to capture the essence of this relationship.

2. 'Fiza'

Sounding too good to be real, this film featured Karishma Kapoor as Fiza and Hrithik Roshan as her brother Aman. 'Lolo-Duggu' together as Bhai-Behen is one of the most absurd combinations we have ever seen. The plot of the film which revolved around the search for Fiza’s brother also put forth her wish to protect him.

3. 'Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya'

'Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya' starring Kajol as Muskaan and Arbaaz Khan as her overly protective older brother Vishal Thakur was released in 1998. This film gave us an insight into the temperaments of brothers who’d do anything to shield their sisters from unknown perils. Oh, and next time when your brother says ‘Bol Diya’, you should know it’s from this film that they have learnt it.

4. 'Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Naa'

One of the most appreciated films, 'Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Naa' explained the love-hate dimension of this relationship. Genelia D’souza appeared as Aditi and Prateek Babbar as Amit - both were completely opposite to each other. Highlighting the detached nature of brothers and still being concerned about who their sister is dating is something that this movie managed to present beautifully. And yes, we all have nicknames for our siblings, just like Amit had one for Aditi - ‘Meow’.

5. 'Golmaal Returns'

The second film in the 'Golmaal' series presented Tusshar Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor as brother and sister. Just because they share the same surname does not mean they should also be cast as ‘reel-life’ siblings. While Tussar was mute, her sister was seen a loud speaker. Isn’t that really weird? Since he supported his vigorous sister, Tusshar did face a lot of battering in the film.

6. 'Race 2'

Brace yourself for the most uncanny bhai-behen duo till date. Deepika Padukone and John Abraham as Armaan and Alina Malik in ‘Race 2’. From dating each other in the film 'Desi Boyz' to probably tying a rakhi in ‘Race 2’, this combination is beyond our comprehension.

7. ‘Josh’

'Josh' featured two of the biggest names in Bollywood - Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - as siblings. From Max and Shirley in the year 2000 and Dev-Paaro in the year 2002, it must have been quite a journey. Khan and Bachchan as bhai-behen, now for that, we probably need a decade to digest.

8. 'Housefull'

Deepika Padukone and Arjun Rampal, too hot a pair to be featured as bhai-behen. Apparently, Deepika confessed to have a huge crush on Arjun Rampal in real life. Major Krishna Raowho is overly worried about who his sister Sandy is marrying and also gets a lie detection test on her lover, and this is a perfect portrayal of the stuff a guy has to go through if he plans to marry a girl with elder brothers.

9. 'Ramaiya Vastavaiya'

Shruti Hassan as Sona and Sonu Sood as Raghuveer is yet another weird pair for this concept in 'Ramaiya Vastavaiya'. Sona, who is a traditional, desi girl is brought up by her only brother Raghuveer in Punjab.

10. 'Dus'

This film offered the over-the-top fusion of Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan and Dia Mirza as siblings. This is an immaculate example of 'teen tigada, kaam bigada'. Despite the fact that this film did wonders at box office, it didn’t really capture the audience with the aspect of this beautiful relationship.
