GOAT Box Office Collection Day 3: Thalapathy Vijay is ruling the box office with his new film, The Greatest of All Time, aka GOAT. The film released on Thursday and has been getting love from fans. The film has reportedly collected Rs 100 Cr.
According to Sacnilk, the Venkat Prabhu film saw a growth on Saturday, which helped the film surpass the Rs 100 Cr mark. On Saturday alone, GOAT collected Rs 33 Crore. The majority of the collection is coming from the Tamil version. The film collected Rs 29.1 Cr just via the Tamil version. In Hindi, the film collected Rs 2.15 Cr. The Telugu version has also collected Rs 1.75 Cr. It is to see how much will the film collect by the end of its opening weekend.
GOAT seemingly marks Vijay’s last film before he ventures into politics. While the film boasts of impressive action sequences and cameos, the film falls short on the script. The Tamil action thriller film The Greatest of All Time is directed by Venkat Prabhu and backed by AGS Entertainment. The film stars Vijay in dual roles, alongside Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Ajmal Ameer, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren and Yugendran in other pivotal roles. The film also has a special dance number featuring Trisha Krishnan.
As per reports, GOAT is made on a budget of Rs 400 crore and it is AGS’ most expensive film.
News18’s review of the film reads: “Vijay has played the dual role of both father and son. The makers have used de-aging technology to make the star look younger, and it works. Except for a few sequences, the technical gimmick has yielded brilliant results. Vijay too has done the best of his abilities to make both characters work. On the other hand, the film is terribly underwritten with no real substance to make up for its three-hour runtime.”
