Identified as Kavya Dhakad, she had travelled to Kota, Rajasthan, to prepare for an entrance exam and conspired with two friends to stage her disappearance. Although her whereabouts remain unknown, it has been revealed that she spent only three days in Kota, staying in a hostel and attending coaching classes before executing her plan.

“Most people will laugh about this and have fun but just imagine how miserable the parents must have had felt in those hours where he actually thought she’s kidnapped, he’ll probably never trust her again. Shameful," remarked a user on the news shared by the ‘X’ page ‘Ghar Ka Kalesh’.

“Teenagers right now are literally Cartoons," exclaimed another, while a third chimed in, “Kota has something different in it’s air." Naturally, others flooded in with memes, humorously depicting the father’s predicament.

Moving on to the investigation, Kota SP Amrita Duhan called for a press conference, unveiling the details of the probe following the breakthrough. It all unfolded on March 18 when Raghuveer Dhakad, the father of the NEET aspirant, lodged a complaint with the Kota Police following his daughter’s alleged abduction. In a harrowing ordeal, he received photographs purportedly depicting Kavya bound with ropes from the alleged ‘kidnappers’, who demanded a hefty ransom of Rs. 30 lakhs for her release.

Screenshots of a purported WhatsApp exchange between Kavya’s father and her ‘captors’ have since gone viral on social media, further fueling public interest in the case. Matters escalated further after Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia intervened, engaging with Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma to secure the safe return of the girl.

Highlighting the swift response of the authorities, SP Duhan disclosed that Kavya’s last known location was traced back to her hometown of Indore.

“She arrived in Kota with her mother. However, after the mother left, Kavya moved to Indore and has been living there ever since with her two male friends," revealed the senior officer.

Explaining how Kavya managed to deceive her parents, the SP outlined that she maintained communications with them under the guise of class tests and attendance, purportedly on behalf of the coaching institute. Providing valuable insight, one of Kavya’s friends cooperating with the investigation divulged that she and another friend concocted the abduction plan in a bid to flee abroad due to financial constraints.

Furthermore, the police revealed that Kavya staged her abduction photoshoot in a mutual friend’s room.

“Whether she did this under pressure or free will, would be revealed once she is traced. We appeal to the woman and her friend to report to a nearby police station or contact her worried parents," appealed SP Amrita Duhan.
