The BJP has agreed to cooperate provided they are allowed to flag key issues like the Lokpal Bill and the Telangana issue.

New Delhi: There seems to be no work in Parliament, which was disrupted for the fifth straight day on Wednesday. On one hand, the Seemandhra MPs have put the government in an embarrassing position by moving a no-confidence motion against it while on the other hand with Anna Hazare's fast, the focus is back on whether the Lokpal Bill will be passed.

Only eight days are left for the winter session to get over and the BJP has opposed cutting it short. The party has however, agreed to cooperate with the government to pass the finance bills provided they are allowed to flag key issues like the Lokpal Bill and the Telangana issue.

No decision has yet been made by the parties on whether they will support the motion against the government. "Let the no-confidence motion be taken up by the speaker first then we will decide our position," SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said keeping the members guessing on his stand.

A no-confidence motion, to be admitted, needs the support of at least 50 MPs. The TDP on Wednesday tried to gather the support of MPs from various parties against the government. It had earlier claimed that 84 MPs from various parties will support the motion.

However, the principal opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is still undecided on whether it will support the motion due to its stated position on the division of the state.

"We were inclined to support it but on second thoughts, we considered and other parties also suggested so we thought that it needs a re-look," senior BJP leader LK Advani said.

Much to the relief of the government, the House on Wednesday amid the din, could not take up the motion for discussion. Although, despite the rebellion against the government, top UPA ministers have ruled out any possibility of an early election.

"There is no question of expediting early elections. The government has full majority, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamalnath said.

Meanwhile, central trade unions have planned a march to Parliament on Thursday to protest the disinvestment of PSUs.
