Andhagan To Park, 8 Tamil Films That Released In Theatres Today

The first half of 2024 was considered underwhelming for Tamil cinema, primarily because its films didn’t meet fans’ expectations. Audiences favoured films from other languages instead like Manjummel Boys, Premalu, Adujeevitham, Kalki 2898 AD and Bramayugam. Despite a lukewarm start to the year, the latter half of 2024 promises more substantial releases. Although Indian 2 did not live up to the hype, Raayan received a warm reception. Here is the list of 8 films which were released today.

Andhagan

Tamil cinema fans can look forward to Andhagan, a Tamil remake of the cult classic Hindi thriller Andhadhun. Directed by Thiagarajan, who is also the father of lead actor Prashanth, the film sees Prashanth playing the role originally played by Ayushmann Khurrana. The film revolves around a blind pianist who unwittingly gets caught up in a web of deceit after witnessing a crime. The film also stars Priya Anand, Simran and other notable actors.

Minmini

Halitha Shameem’s Minmini is the much-awaited debut after a unique filmmaking process that saw a seven-year gap to allow the young actors to grow into their teenage years. Set in the hills of Udhagamandalam, this coming-of-age drama is the sequel to Halitha’s previous film Poovarasam Peepee. The film revolves around three childhood friends who struggle with the effects of survivor’s guilt and the challenges of growing up. Starring Gaurav Kalai, Pravin Kishore and Esther Anil in the lead roles, Minmini explores the themes of friendship and personal growth in a nuanced way.

Kavundampalayam

Kavundampalayam is a Tamil drama film directed by Ranjith. The star cast of the film includes Ranjith and Imman Annachi in the lead roles. The music is composed by Vijay Shankar. The film is produced by Subramaniam Palanisamy under the banner unknown.

P2 Iruvar

Produced by Aram Productions, P Ramalingam, directed by Shivam, the film P2 Iruvar is a fantastic commercial thriller horror film with new actors. The music and trailer release ceremony of the film, which is running in theatres now, was held in the presence of press and media friends along with film stars and the film crew.

Park

Park is a 2024 film directed by EK Murugan and starring Thaman Kumar, Swetha Dorathy, Black Pandi and Neema Ray. The film is produced by Lion E Nataraj and the music is composed by Hamara CV.

Light House

Directed by Sri Krishna and starring Ananth Nag, Vidya Pradeep and Thalivasal Vijay in the lead roles, Light House was released today. The film is shot in a very interesting way and focuses on a lighthouse. The film has received an A certificate from the censor board.

Sooriyanum Sooriyagandhiyum

The village drama starring Surya and Suriyakanthi, written and directed by AL Raja was released today. Appukutty, Santana Bharti and many others along with several new faces have acted in this film.

Veerayi Makkal

Directed by Nagaraj Karupiah, the film stars Vela Ramamurthy, late actor Marimuthu, Deepa Shankar, Suresh Nanda, Nandana, Rama, Gerald Milton and others.

This film highlights the importance of living in a joint family. Produced by N Suresh Nanda under A Wide Screen Films, Deepan Chakraborty composed the music. Veerai Makal has been released in theatres today.
