Invoking Hitler and Goebbels to attack Modi, Nitish said that the BJP's PM was giving false statements for political gains.

Patna: The Janata Dal United (JDU) chief JDU chief on Tuesday took the fight to Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate and Narendra Modi and gave a point by point rebuttal on several key issues.

Invoking Hitler and his propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels to attack Modi, Nitish said that the BJP's prime ministerial candidate was giving false statements for political gains.

Nitish called Modi a fascist and not democratic. "Those who believe in fascisim are Hilter-like and will do what Hitler did. Hitler's propoganda was to tell a lie hundreds of times and it would seem to be true. In Indian too some people are doing the same," he added.

He also attacked the BJP for creating too much hype around an individual. "The man dreaming to be on the country's highest post should be sober, why this unnecessary excitement and hurry? You can create hype around an individual but it can't ensure your victory. Bihar's poor will vote for those who fight for them," he said taking a dig at Modi.

Staying away from the contentious issue of security lapses that led to blasts in Bihar, the chief minister criticised the Hunkar rally itself.

Modi on Sunday had said that the Bihar CM had come to Gujarat for a wedding where he was also present and he attended him well as Nitish was his guest. Nitish however, such rejected such a scene and said, "Both of us went to the dinner on the invitation of a judge. Both of us were guests there".

Modi had also said that Alexander came to India after conquering many regions and that he defeated by our soldiers near Ganga. However, Nitish rebutted his claim and said, "Alexander never reached the Ganges. He fell ill on his way to India and eventually died while he was returning home."

Earlier in the day, JDU leader Shivanand Tiwari embarrassed his party by openly praising Modi at the party's convention in Rajgir on Tuesday. He then went on to attack Nitish saying, "JDU's alliance with the BJP was working fine. JDU broke ties with the BJP because of national politics. BJP elevated Narendra Modi, who comes from a very humble ground. He has struggled a lot to reach where he is today and for this I admire him a lot. We will fight him but we should also be aware of his strengths," he said as Nitish Kumar and other JDU leaders looked on.

Questioning why Nitish was jealous of Modi, Tiwari praised Modi's 'modest background'. "I am an old colleague of yours Nitishji, I would be happy when my friends will move ahead. This demand for special package for Bihar was my idea," he said.
