Samson to feature in Afghanistan T20Is

Sanju Samson earned a place in the Indian squad for the forthcoming T20I series against Afghanistan, starting Thursday in Mohali. While Ishan Kishan missed out, Samson and Jitesh Sharma were picked as the two wicketkeeper-batters in the squad.

The 3-match series will also see the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma making their way back into the T20I set-up. Both of them have not played the shortest format since India’s exit from the T20 World Cup 2022 after losing the semi-final to England by 10 wickets.

Hardik Pandya briefly took over the leadership role in T20Is since then but he will be unavailable for the series due to an ankle injury that he picked up during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. At the same time, Surykumar Yadav will also miss out due to injury.
