Actress Sonam Kapoor recently opened up her personal life, including her marriage to Anand Ahuja and the physical changes she’s experienced since welcoming her son Vayu, in a recent interview with The Dirty Magazine. The 39-year-old actress also addressed the phenomenon of being offered roles that seem to defy her age, confessing that while it’s “flattering” to be considered for parts typically reserved for 20-somethings, she finds it “weird”. Nevertheless, Sonam expressed her delight in being perceived as ageless, saying she’s thrilled that people still think of her as someone who hasn’t aged much.

In the interview, she shared, “It’s weird though because the roles I’m getting offered are still of a 20-something. I just recently got offered one of a girl whom her parents want to get married. I was just like, are you sure you want to offer this film to me? It doesn’t make any sense. Another role was of a girl in school, who becomes a sportsperson. I thought the role would be split between a younger actor and me, but they wanted me for both! They were like, we’ll make it work. I was like, no, I can’t make it work! You know, because now they can de-age you. I don’t want to be de-aged! Can you imagine me de-aged.”

Giving reference of her cousin sisters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, she further added, “I mean, obviously I don’t look as young as a Jhanvi or a Khushi, but I’m quite grateful for the fact that people think of me as someone who’s not aged much. Even though I’ve had a kid (Vayu) and all of that. I guess because my kid’s not been out there for the world to see? And I want to keep it that way.”

Sonam Kapoor welcomed a baby boy named Vayu with her husband, Anand Ahuja, in 2022. She took a break from acting and moved to London, but now she spends time in both India and the UK. Her last main movie role was in “The Zoya Factor” in 2019. Since then, she only made a brief appearance in the 2020 Netflix film “Ak vs Ak”, which also starred her dad Anil Kapoor, brother Harshvardhan Kapoor, and director Anurag Kashyap.
