Heavy rains on Sunday night disrupted normal life in several villages in Khammam and Adilabad districts. Road connectivity to as many as 20 villages in Aswaraopeta, Bayyaram and Yellendu mandals of Khammam district and 12 villages in Kotapalle and Vemanapalle mandals of Adilabad disrict were cut off as the rain flooded the roads.

 In Adilabad, Bathakamma Vagu was overflowing between Kotapalle and Vemanapalle mandals and a temporary culvert on a canal in Dostanagar of Nirmal division collapsed, forcing the officials to divert the vehicular traffic.

 Also, five of the 18 crest gates of Kadam project were lifted and the water released downstream. The outflow at the afternoon was 3,924 and inflow was 3164. Heavy rains were recorded on Sunday night and Monday morning in Aswaraopeta, Bayyaram and Yellendu mandals.

 With Muredu, Mati Vagu and Kannaiaygari Vagu overflowing, officials are taking precautionary measures. Crest gate of Peddavagu was lifted and water was released at the rate 5000 cusecs into Godavari.

 Similarly, 8 crest gates of Taiperu project in Charla mandal were lifted and the water was released downstream at the rate of 8000 cubic feet per second (cusec).

 According to officials, though there have been inflows into Godavari because of Sunday’s rain, the flood water of the past few days had receded and the present water levels stand at 37.

2 feet in Bhadrachalam as against the first danger mark of 43 feet.

 Though there were no rains in the catchments areas of Krishna rivers and its tributaries in Karnataka, the rain waters have started reaching the projects in Andhra Pradesh.  On Monday morning, the water levels were recorded at 1043.

86 feet at Jurala against the full reservoir level (FRL) of 1045.  Outflows were 99,318 and the inflows were 1,01,992.  In Srisailam, the inflows were more or less the same and are expected to recede, with outflows of Tungabhadra decreasing since Sunday.

 According to assistant engineer of the project Sudheer Babu, the water levels were 865. 80 feet against FRL of 885 feet.  The inflows stood at 1,11,186 cuecs.  However, there was no power production on Monday at Sirsailam Hydel Power plant since afternoon
