Prashanth Thiagarajan is a popular actor in Tamil film industry. After starting his entertainment career at the age of 17 with the film Vaigasi Poranthachu, the actor got his first breakthrough with Shankar’s film Jeans in 1998. The success of Jeans fetched him opportunities to work in bigger film projects like Kannedhirey Thondrinal, Kaadhal Kavithai, Jodi and Parthen Rasithen. Prashanth is the son of the director-actor Thiagarajan. He is set to return to the Tamil film industry after six years, with his film Andhagan. It is the official remake of the superhit Bollywood film Andhadhun. The Tamil remake is directed by Thiagarajan. Initially, slated to release on August 15, the makers have now preponed its theatrical release date to August 9.
This crime-thriller film Andhagan stars Simaran, Priya Anand, Karthik, Samuthirakan, Urvashi, Yogi Babu, Vanitha Vijayakumar and Manobala in the prominent roles. It follows a remake of a blind pianist who unwittingly becomes embroiled in a murder. It is produced by Shanthi and Preethi Thiagarajan. The music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan. The makers have reportedly preponed the release date of the film due to the clash of highly anticipated films on August 15. The Independence Day will witness the release of Vikram’s Thangalaan, Keerthy Suresh’s Raghu Thatha and Arulnithi’s Demonte Colony 2 in theatres. To avoid clashes with such films, the makers of Andhagan decided to release their film a week before.
In 2019, Thiagarajan purchased the rights to remake the Hindi film Andhadhun in Tamil outbidding other producers like Dhanush and Siddharth. Director Mohan Raja was initially selected to direct the film, but later he withdrew at the end of the year from the film. He was replaced by JJ Fredrick, who withdrew without specifying the reason. Thiagarajan took control of the production. Due to Covid-19, the film’s production was delayed for years. The makers have released several songs like En Kadhal, Yosichi Yosichi, Kannile and The Andhagan Anthem.
Prashanth was last seen in the Telugu film Vinaya Vidheya Rama in 2019. It was written and directed by Boyapati Srinu and starred Ram Charan in the lead role.
