Kerala: Weeks after a tiger sparked off panic at a village in Kerala's Wayanad district, a special team has shot it dead. The team comprised sharp shooters and vets from Kerala and Karnataka.

Officials said the team first tried using tranqualisers on the tiger but when the drugs failed to tame the animal, the drastic step had to be taken.

The tiger had reportedly killed cattle in two villages over the past three weeks.
