GANGAVATHI: The 78th Akhil Bharat Kannada Sahitya Sammelan began with a grand procession at the Sai Mandir at Jantakal near Gangavti on Friday. Local MLA Paranna Munavalli waved the Kannada flag to inaugurate the procession which went through the main streets of the city.At the beginning of the procession was a decorated chariot which carried Sammelan president C P Krishnakumar and KSP state president R K Nallur Prasad.Another chariot was carrying Kannada Bhuvaneshwari. The 1.5-km long procession was welcomed by the people along the route from Jantakal to Sri Channabasaveshwara Stadium, the venue of the Sammelan.Given its proximity to Kishkinda, a Sammelan in Gangavathi could not afford to forget the birth place of Hindu God Hanuman. Hence, a tableau displayed the life of Hanuman.
