Acclaimed Actress and professional Bharathanatyam danseuse Shobana, shared exclusive details on her upcoming performance Krishna at ITC Royal Gardenia in Bangalore. Krishna is a dialogue drama where classical folk and film dance have been put together creatively for production. It promises a canvas that extends from Vrindavan, through Mathura to Kurukshetra, where Shobana and her disciples intend to portray Lord Krishna, the man , his prophecy and philosophy and why he is beyond man’s understanding.Speaking on the occasion, Shobana said, “It is an attempt to convey the moral values propagated by Lord Krishna to people. Some of the lesser known stories will also be touched upon including his role in Mahabharatha. Besides Carnatic music, the play will also encompass songs from Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam movies”. All proceeds from this performance will be donated to Vishranthi. A Charitable Trust which is a unique Home for Seniors Citizen in the city. This would directly benefit the senior citizen and orphans residing at Vishranthi.Shobana further added, “One of the biggest pains in life is when you are alone in a single platform with an empty folder. Krishna is a musical dance that I have directed and written. It has a script with 23 performers with some of the renowned actors giving their voice to the play. Shabana Azmi, Konkone Sen, Nandita, Prabhu and not to forget Surya. Some of them are less than six years old. We took it to Dubai and it premiered in Chennai with a great response from the audience and Bangalore is a great place to perform too. Its not for the critics its for all people”.“I am truly honoured and thankful to Shobana for her kind initiative. I hope it can be an inspiration to others in the city and inspire them to take up working for social cause in Banglore. It has been a very fulfilling experience for me to work for people in need,” said Srinivasan, Managing Trustee of Vishranthi.
