HYDERABAD: Contractors working for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board have decided to stop emergency work, including second phase of 100-day programme, from March 15 as the Board failed to clear their long-pending dues.The emergency works they will not undertake include fixing heavy leaks in pipelines, tackling contamination of water, de-clogging of pipelines, repairs to sluice valves, reconstruction of damaged sewer manholes, replacement of damaged sewer pipes, replacement of missing manhole covers, repairs to power and handbore wells, rewinding and repair of pumps, motors, maintenance of water pumping stations and repair of cables.They said that all 575 contractors would stay away from emergency works until the board cleared their dues amounting to Rs 18 crore.
