Women Enter Train Through Windows at Ujjain's Overcrowded Railway Station, Video Goes Viral

The crowd and Indian Railways are inseparable companions, but the magnitude of the crowd has reached a point where individuals are compelled to board trains through windows. This was vividly evident at Ujjain Junction Railway Station, where a video depicting an overwhelmingly crowded station surfaced on the internet, highlighting the escalating challenge of overcrowding within trains.

On the micro-blogging site ‘X’, a shared video showcased the railway platform submerged in a sea of passengers eagerly awaiting the train. The space adjacent to the tracks was not spared either, as it was also densely packed with people. To heighten the astonishment, as a train pulled in, a woman on the opposite side of the platform could be seen entering a coach through a window due to the overwhelming rush, leaving no time to wait at the doors, which were inundated with passengers.

The shocking footage has left many in disbelief, with some expressing concerns about the safety of commuters resorting to entering coaches through windows. Others directed their comments to Indian Railways, urging them to address the issue.

“Climbing into the compartment wearing a saree through the ‘small door’ is a remarkable feat…,” remarked one user. Another exclaimed, “It’s called windows training!!” A third commenter quipped, “Emergency Exit turned Emergency Entrance,” while a fourth added a touch of sarcasm, stating, “Look, it’s the prime meridian: anything goes in the prime meridian.”

According to reports, the surge in crowd was a result of a strike initiated by truck drivers protesting against the perceived excessively harsh new ‘hit-and-run’ laws. The impact of the strike was particularly felt in Ujjain, where thousands of pilgrims found themselves stranded due to the unavailability of buses. The situation worsened when taxi and auto-rickshaw drivers joined the strike, limiting people’s options to reach essential transportation hubs such as airports and railway stations.
