Samosas are a go-to appetiser when hosting a cosy get-together at home, at school functions, in a bustling college or office canteen, or while taking a tea break for refreshment. It remains a classic and beloved accompaniment for every occasion and holds a special place in the hearts of Indians. This deep-fried, crispy snack filled with spiced mashed potatoes and a small quantity of vegetables is not only flavorful but also incredibly versatile. They can be enjoyed on their own, dipped in chutneys or yogurt, or even incorporated into chaat.
However, in today’s era of unique culinary creation, samosa has gone through a lot of experiments. From blueberry samosas and biryani samosas to macaroni samosas, and even palak paneer samosas, we must have all heard of them. But adding to the list of bizarre combinations with samosas, a street food vendor recently carried out an experiment with samosas that might annoy your tastebuds. Wondering what it was? It is none other than a ‘Mamosa’—a combination of Manchurian and samosa. Yes, you read that right.
The now-viral video circulating online features a unique dish that comes with Manchurians over the triangle-shaped fried flour samosa. The clip was shared on Instagram by food blogger ‘Chahat Bhalla’. The video unfolds to show a vendor placing a samosa on a plate and crushing it with his hands. He then tops it with two Manchurian balls and drizzles them with gravy. Finally, he garnishes the dish with a spoonful of mint and tamarind chutneys, and a sprinkle of chopped onions.
Sharing the clip, the Instagram user captioned, “Manchurian + Samosa = Mamosa.”
