A few weeks back, Robin Zaccheus was preparing to relish a Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate when he spotted a worm crawling on the chocolate bar. He immediately shared the video of the worm and the chocolate’s purchase receipt on X (Formerly Twitter) and alerted the company including government authorities. Robin mentioned that he purchased the chocolate from a Ratnadeep Retail store at Ameerpet Metro station in Hyderabad. According to the Times of India report, the food safety officials inspected the store. They took about 20 samples of the chocolate and Cadbury was instructed to recall all the products bearing the same batch number.
On February 28, Robin shared an update on the issue. He dropped photos of a lab report from the Telangana State Food laboratory and claimed that the lab report confirms that the “Cadbury Chocolate (Roasted Almond) was “UNSAFE TO CONSUME” and “they found WHITE WORMS & WEB!” He added, “It is perhaps high time that FMCG companies are made accountable and penalised for supplying unsafe food that our children consume very often!”

Chocolate like any other food product requires specific care and attention in the distribution chain, retail environment and in storage. We have tested the samples of the same batch, as well as other batches manufactured around the same time and found no issues.2/3— Cadbury Dairy Milk (@DairyMilkIn) February 28, 2024
