As Christmas is around the corner, the world gears up to mark the most extravagant wintry celebration of the year. People across every nook and corner of the globe observe this festivity with much pomp and fervour. The excitement is at the highest level among children. They wait for this occasion throughout the year, going by the widely proclaimed concept that Santa Claus will pay a visit to their house with a special gift on the day of Christmas.
On the eve of the celebration, kids generally keep an empty sock or stocking-shaped bag beside their bed. They go to sleep with the hope that Santa Claus will come and fill it with their desired gifts, candies and fruits. But Santa Claus might find it hard to make the Gen Z kids happy by presenting them with such Christmas gifts. Proving the point is a little girl from the United States whose Christmas wish list might let Santa Claus break the bank.

In a wonderful gesture towards children, the United States Postal Service every year organises a campaign called Operation Santa Claus. Through this initiative, the organisation collects Christmas wishlists from children and tries to make their wishes come true on the day of the festival. Participating in the campaign, one girl came up with a long list featuring various high-budget electronic items. Her demands included iPhone 15 Pro Max, Airpods Pro, Airpods Max, iPad Pro, a Drawing projector, a Polaroid camera, and a Macbook.
A photo of the list was dropped on Reddit by a user named Phillyphan. “My girlfriend was looking through these wanting to send a gift to some kid and I assumed these letters that get posted in here are families that can’t afford to get the kids something so they use this so their Christmas doesn’t suck,” the Redditor wrote in the caption of the post.
Underlining the shocking demands of the kid, the user added, “I would say 90 percent of these kids are expecting $500+ gifts and my girlfriend can’t afford to send something like that. I assume 90 percent of the population can’t either. I feel like if I were asking for help I’d ask for something reasonable. There’s no way all these PS5s, iPhones/ iPads, and Jordans are being bought and sent out.”
The post was able to garner massive traction from other Reddit users. While some were left irked after seeing the pricey demands, others went on to reminisce about their childhood days when such gadgets could hardly be counted as Christmas gifts.
One Redditor was quick to say, “I think at 8 years old, I asked Santa for a Lambo.” Supporting the kid, a user commented, “They’re writing a letter to a man they believe delivers toys all around the world made by elves. They aren’t thinking about the cost, as they believe the cost is free.” Since being shared, the post has received hundreds of upvotes and more than 200 comments on Reddit.
