Giorgia Villa scripted history in Paris winning Italy’s first Olympic medal (silver) in the women’s gymnastics team event for 96 years. Winning an Olympic medal is undoubtedly one of Villa’s greatest achievements in her career. But the 21-year-old Italian artistic gymnast has now gone viral because of some hitherto unknown reasons. As per multiple media reports, Villa has had one of the strangest brand deals in the history of sports. It has been learnt that Villa was once a brand ambassador for Parmigiano Reggiano, a famous Italian cheese brand. It is not known whether she’s still being sponsored by the brand. The Italian Olympian triggered a massive chatter on social media yesterday when one X (formerly Twitter) user shared pictures of Villa posing with a couple of large cheese wheels back in 2021. Though she has not shared any content or advertisement for the company since 2022.

“Olympic silver medalist and Italian gymnast Giorgia Villa is sponsored by parmesan cheese and takes many of her photos while posing with large wheels of cheese,” read the now-viral post on X.

Reacting to the post, one social media user wrote, “This Olympics belongs to the girlies they are slaying it.”

Another person cheekily commented, “If this isn’t life goals, I don’t know what is.”

“Impressive to see someone go from cartwheels to cheesewheels,” read another comment.

One X user hilariously wrote, “I hope the photographer used every opportunity possible to say ‘say cheese’.”

“I need the people to know that olympic silver medalist giorgia villa is sponsored by parmesan cheese and regularly posts pics of herself with giant wheels of cheese,” read another post.

This person referred to this collaboration as one of the “perfect unexpected combos.”

Giorgia Villa had suffered an ankle injury right before the Tokyo Olympics 2021. The sprained ankle had forced Villa to miss her maiden Olympics appearance. Villa made her Olympics debut this year in Paris and came up with a spirited show to guide Italy to a historic medal. The Italian team accumulated a total of 165.494 across four apparatus at the Paris Olympics to win a silver medal. The US team won the gold medal while, Brazil claimed its first-ever team medal in gymnastics, having ensured a bronze.
