Engineer Forced to Work as Swiggy Delivery Partner Shares Moving Story on LinkedIn: 'Hang in There'
The software engineer from Tamil Nadu started working as a Swiggy delivery partner after he faced multiple rejections and struggled to make ends meet.

A software engineer from Tamil Nadu was forced to work as a delivery partner for Swiggy after he was laid off from his previous job. Riyazuddin A, decided to work for Swiggy after “rejections piled up” and he had “bills to pay”. Though it was not easy for Riyazuddin to “balance hope, rejection and grind daily”, he somehow “stayed afloat”.

“A few months ago, life took an unexpected turn when I was laid off from my job,” wrote Riyazuddin on LinkedIn. He added, “I found myself in a difficult financial position. During that time, I made the decision to become a Swiggy delivery partner to meet my financial needs.”

He recounted the challenges he faced as a delivery partner: “I still remember those early morning rides, the blazing afternoon sun, the pouring rain, and those late-night deliveries. Each delivery wasn’t just about the earnings, it was a step forward in reclaiming my resilience. Swiggy gave me an opportunity to stay afloat when everything else seemed to sink.”

Riyazuddin also reflected on how “each order he delivered made him stronger” and imparted invaluable lessons: “It was not easy—balancing hope, rejection, and the grind of the day-to-day. But those months as a Swiggy delivery partner gave me more than just financial support; they gave me invaluable lessons in patience, persistence, and humility. Every order I delivered made me stronger,” he further said.

The engineer, who is proficient in Python, also announced that he has joined a new company. “Today, I’m incredibly grateful to announce that I’ve started a new chapter with a new company. While I’m excited about this fresh start, I want to take a moment to bid a proper farewell to my time with Swiggy. I owe a lot to those tough, heartful memories of the streets, the customers, and the support Swiggy provided when I needed it most.”

He concluded with a powerful message for those facing “tough times”. The software developer said, “… Hang in there. Sometimes, life’s unexpected detours lead us to places of growth and strength we never imagined.”

Riyazuddin’s “journey of resilience” on LinkedIn gained significant traction, so much so that Swiggy dropped a comment on his post.

The company said that it is “grateful” to have him as an employee: “What an inspiring story, Riyazuddin! We’re grateful to have been part of your journey and are proud of the strength, persistence, and resilience you’ve shown. Wishing you all the success in your new chapter – onwards and upwards, indeed!”
