There is no end to the versatile records being documented under the prestigious Guinness World Records (GWR). Recently, a one-of-a kind stunt was added to this ever increasing list of records. A Danish man had secured a title with the GWR after managing to stuff 68 matchsticks into his nostrils. According to the GWR website, Peter von Tangen Buskov from Denmark has not only set a world record but is also the first person to hold this record. According to the rules, a minimum of 45 matchsticks is needed to be stuffed inside the nostrils in order to set the record.
As per the GWR, Peter had been deliberating on several ‘fun records’ that he could complete and at the end came up with this matchstick challenge. While he claims that the idea was “a bit random” as prior to this he never really thought of inserting objects into his nose, even during his childhood. However, growing up reading about the Guinness World Records, Peter is now happy that he has managed to set a world record of his own. Peter stated, “I always try to look for the interesting and peculiar aspects of life. There are so many amazing things to experience, see or do, if we just stay open to it.”
"Surprisingly it didn’t really hurt."— Guinness World Records (@GWR) February 18, 2024
Speaking about undertaking this unusual challenge, Peter said, “Surprisingly it didn’t really hurt.” He added, “I have fairly large nostrils and quite stretchy skin. I’m sure that helped a lot.” Currently, the record holder works in business administration and has plans to resume teaching social science at a secondary school.
While this time his nostrils could hold only 68 matchsticks, he expects to break his own record in the future. He mentioned, “For me, an increase in capacity would require some training, or perhaps my nose will grow as I get older.” He added that with this unusual record he aims to remind people that a little bit of fun is necessary in life.
I think it’s time for Guinness Record to consider awarding their title to some reasonable stuff. This right here is absolute rubbish.— Osquare (@osquare78) February 18, 2024

Don't think that record will be broke ????— Ang⚡ (@Toastitoo) February 18, 2024
While the record is quite interesting, internet users do not seem fascinated by it. A user said, “I think it’s time for Guinness Record to consider awarding their title to some reasonable stuff. This right here is absolute rubbish,” while another wrote, “Weird, not unique!” An individual joked, “Don’t think that record will be broke.”
