A nursing student in Tamil Nadu’s Theni district was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by unidentified persons, the police said on Monday adding that the victim was found at a railway station.

She left her hometown on a bus and called her father to inform him that a woman wearing a black dress was following her. Later, the victim’s phone was unreachable, prompting her father to approach the Theni Police station.

The accused allegedly left her near the Dindigul railway station where she approached the police and informed them that she was abducted and sexually assaulted nearly 50 km away from the station.

The student was admitted to a Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital for medical treatment, said Dindigul District Superintendent of Police Pradeep who also visited the hospital for an inquiry.

The police team is finding it difficult to question the victim as she reportedly suffered an epileptic attack while being questioned.

The police said that an FIR under two sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita have been lodged and an investigation has been launched to arrest the accused.
