AR Rahman's Songs Losing Charm After 2011? Internet Disagrees: 'Still Playing on Repeat'
Hard to recall AR Rahman's compositions post 2011? Internet disagrees to viral post claiming so.

A. R. Rahman is one Indian music composer whose songs we trust with blind devotion. His melodies, spanning from soothing serenades to heart-wrenching ballads and joyous anthems, have woven themselves into the fabric of our lives. Whether it’s the rhythmic beats of ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ or the soul-stirring magic of ‘Kun Faya Kun,’ the 57-year-old has not just mastered but owned the music industry like no other. So, when a cheeky social media page claimed that his post-2011-12 songs are forgettable, fans were quick to fire back with retorts that were far from sweet.

The drama unfolded when an account, @FilmHistoryPic, unleashed a video featuring A. R. Rahman’s hit parade, starting from ‘Rangeela Re’ in 1995, ‘Dil Se Re’ in 1998, ‘Saathiya’ in 2002, ‘Khwaja Mere Khwaja’ in 2008, ‘Kabhi Kabhi Aditi,’ ‘Kaise Mujhe’ from the same year to ‘Kun Faya Kun’ in 2011, ‘Raanjhanaa’ in 2013, ‘Maahi Ve’ in 2014, ‘Agar Tum Saath Ho’ in 2015 to ‘Dil Bechara’ in 2020. The video offered a tantalizing glimpse. However, the caption read, “A R Rahman songs from 1995. The recall value falls drastically after 2011-12.”

But fans weren’t having it. One dissenting voice remarked, “Rang de basanti is missing.. and I don’t agree with the recall value fall. Agar Tum Saath Ho has to be the love anthem of the modern age!” Another fired back, “I don’t agree with u. Rehman sir and his songs’ recall value will never fall.”

A third defender argued, “How can you say there is no recall value of Ranjhana, Rockstar, Tamasha, Ok Jaanu, Highway album?? Don’t you listen to such songs? Forget about our generations, this reel centric folks literally use this songs on daily basis to express themselves.”
