Lokesh Kanagaraj Cuts a Cake With GUNS, Celebrates 38th Birthday With Arjun Das; Photos Go Viral

Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj celebrated his 38th birthday on Thursday, March 14, and rang in his birthday with a few friends. In photos surfaced online, Lokesh hosted a low-key bash but had a grand cake was arranged for the special night. Director-writer Rathna Kumar, who also co-wrote Leo, took to X and shared photos from the bash. The photos revealed that a three-tier cake was arrange for Lokesh and it featured cut outs of a couple of guns. The cake also featured the logo of Batman, the words ‘DC’ and ‘LCU,’ a nod to Lokesh Cinematic Universe.

Besides Rathna, the bash was also attended by actor Arjun Das. The actor has worked with Lokesh Kanagaraj in Kaithi. He played the role of Anbu Das and was also seen reprising his role in Vikram. Sharing the photos, Rathna wrote, “Happy Birthday da ❤️❤️❤️❤️. Love you loads @Dir_Lokesh.”

On the work front, director Lokesh Kanagaraj is gearing up for his highly anticipated project, tentatively titled Thalaivar 171, which will see him collaborating with superstar Rajinikanth. The director recently disclosed that the film ventures into the action-drama genre, marking a fresh direction in his cinematic repertoire.

Kanagaraj’s previous directorial venture, Leo, starring Thalapathy Vijay, garnered widespread acclaim and emerged as one of the most prominent Indian releases of 2023. Featuring a star-studded cast including Trisha, Arjun Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Mysskin, among others, the film was produced by S S Lalit Kumar and Jagadish Palanisamy under the banner of Seven Screen Studios. With music by Anirudh Ravichander, Leo premiered on October 19, 2023, achieving remarkable commercial success. Despite a budget of 250 crores, the film grossed an impressive 600 crores, making it the second-highest-grossing Tamil film of the year and the top-grossing Tamil film internationally.
