UDF in precarious situation: Achuthanandan
The CPI(M)-led LDF, if voted to power, would take stern action against corrupt politicians.

Kannur: Launching a scathing attack against the Congress-led UDF, Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan on Tuesday said more corruption cases involving the front leaders were coming to light.

The CPI(M)-led LDF, if voted to power, would take stern action against corrupt politicians and sexual exploiters, he told an election convention meeting of party candidate EP Jayarajan in Mattannor constituency.

Apparently referring to the recent conviction of Kerala Congress (B) leader R Balakrishna Pillai in a corruption case and the resurfacing of the sex scandal allegedly involving IUML leader P K Kunhalikutty, he said UDF was in a precarious situation as more cases of corruption involving their leaders were coming to light.

Achuthanandan, who was given a rousing reception by party workers upon his arrival here, claimed that the LDF would return to power with good majority.

Lashing out at the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre for the various scams, he said, "What was happening at the Centre was a 'kumbh mela' of corruption".

Candidate Jayarajan said if LDF returned to power, Achuthanandan would head the government.

Achuthanandan also addressed another election convention at Peravoor.
