New Delhi: A Sikh organisation on Saturday staged a demonstration against Rahul Gandhi for allegedly "disrespecting" Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by his statement denouncing the UPA government for bringing an ordinance on convicted lawmakers.
Scores of Sikhs marched from the Constitution Club to Jantar Mantar and some of them were detained inside the premises of the Club by the police. However, they were soon released.
The protest was led by Advocate Sukhpreet Singh Malhotra, President of the Sikh Punjabi helpline and Kulwinder Singh Bunty, Chairman of Sikh Punjabi helpline. Addressing the protestors, Advocate Sukhpreet Singh said "Rahul Gandhi snubbed sardar Manmohan Singh, who is the Prime Minister of India, while he is outside the country to meet US President Barack Obama.
Singh charged the Congress scion disrespected a Sikh Prime Minister in front of the international media. The organization demanded immediate apology to the Sikh Community and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, failing which threatened to stage more demonstrations against Gandhi as well as Congress Party.
