LK Advani embarrasses BJP again
Advani to contest from Bhopal, where he has his closest disciple Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the chief minister.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party patriarch LK Advani is sulking once again and this time it is over his Lok Sabha seat. After deliberating on the issue for weeks, the BJP central election committee has finally asked him to contest from his old seat Gandhinagar in Gujarat.

But Advani is eyeing Bhopal in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh. It is a very well known fact that Advani is not really too happy with the BJP's PM nominee Narendra Modi. He wants to contest from Bhopal, where he has his closest disciple Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the chief minister.

Even after Narendra Modi's meeting with him on Thursday morning, Advani has not issued any statement. However the BJP is hoping that he will agree to contest from Gandhinagar once again.

LK Advani has had three major incidents of face-off with the BJP leadership in the past one year, all of them being over Lok Sabha elections.

- BJP's Goa conclave on Lok Sabha elections was the first major controversy. LK Adavani stayed away from it. He was reportedly unhappy with Modi's nomination as campaign committee chief.

- In September, Advani was upset, when the BJP anointed Narendra Modi as its PM nominee. He had even sent an open letter to party chief Rajnath Singh expressing deep dissatisfaction over the manner in which Modi was anointed.

- He is now unhappy over his seat and the manner in which the party has decided his seat.

Other major embarrassments

Like LK Advani, another party veteran Jaswant Singh is also unhappy with the party over his seat. Jaswant Singh, sitting MP from Darjeeling in West Bengal, now wants to contest from Barmer in his home state of Rajasthan. But, Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje wants that seat for her loyalist. Jaswant Singh is now threatening the party that he is even ready to contest as an Independent from there, if he is denied party ticket. In the past Jaswant Singh was even dismissed from the BJP and later it was revoked.

Leader of the opposition Sushma Swaraj is unhappy over Bellary Reddys' close confidante B Sriramulu contesting from Bellary on the BJP ticket. The BJP is yet to decide its candidate from there.

Another top leader of the BJP Dr Murli Manohar Joshi is also unhappy over his seat. He had to vacate his seat Varanasi for Narendra Modi and is now contesting from Kanpur.
