Bangalore: The Karnataka Youth Congress has decided to stand by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, during a planned protest from the BJP outside his house. The Chief Minister is facing a huge protest from the BJP for not sacking Information and Infrastructure Development Minister Santosh Lad for his alleged role in the mining scam. The BJP protest is being led by former deputy chief minister R Ashoka. He is planning to lay a siege to the Chief Minister's residence in Bangalore.
The state youth Congress president Rizwan Arshad has attacked the BJP for its double standards over mining scam. He said, "The BJP is the god father of illegal mining in Karnataka. They have looted the entire state in the last five years. R Ashoka was home minister in the BJP government. He did nothing to stop illegal mining. He has no moral right to hold a protest against the Congress."
The 'tainted' minister Santosh Lad is close to Siddaramaiah. He is accused of making hundreds of crores in the illegal export of iron ores from Bellary. Siddaramaiah is refusing to drop him from the state Cabinet.
Arshad, who is also a native of Mysore like the chief minister is backing him. He has warned the BJP that youth Congress will be forced to hold a protest outside R Ashoka's house, if he does not drop the idea of laying a siege to Chief Minister's house. He has also ridiculed that Ashoka is facing a criminal case under the IPC section 420.
The planned protest and counter protest are likely to cause massive traffic jams in Bangalore.
