Unruly Passenger Tries To Open Emergency Door on Delhi-Chennai IndiGo Flight
IndiGo had later urged CISF to take custody of the passenger and move him to airport police station.

Panic struck a Delhi-Chennai IndiGo flight after a passenger allegedly attempted to open emergency door of the aircraft while it was in air.

News18 accessed a letter by IndiGo to CISF assistant commandant in which the airliner said, “This is to inform you that Flight 6e 6341 arrived in Bay no 52, Upon arrival crew have identified one passenger tried to open emergency exit door [sic].”

The airliner added that it is filing a complaint with the airport police station as per procedure under the unruly passenger form that has been filled in the matter.

Similar incidents have happened in the past as well. In July this year, a 29-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh was booked at Bangalore International Airport after he allegedly tried to open the rear-left emergency door of an Air France 194 aircraft mid-air.

Police however said the passenger, identified as Venkat Mohith Achari, had a mental condition and the incident.

In another incident from April this year, a 40-year-old passenger aboard a Delhi-Bengaluru IndiGo Airlines flight tried to open the emergency exit on the plane. According to the airlines, the flyer was in an inebriated state and was cautioned by the airline authorities. He was handed over to a CISF team upon arrival in Bengaluru.

In a statement on Wednesday, IndiGo said: “As per the Standard Operating Procedure, the passenger was declared unruly by the crew and handed over to the local authorities on arrival. At no point was the safety of the flight compromised. We regret any inconvenience caused to the other passengers.
