Earlier this month, Sony revealed slimmer variants of the PS5 to the world. The updated models offer the same graphical fidelity and game performance but in a smaller form factor. More specifically, there is a reduction in volume by over 30% and a weight decrease of 18% and 24%.
Sony announced that both the disc and digital variants will be launched later this year in November, during the holiday season. However, they did not provide a specific release date. Now, a report by Billbill-kun—who is known for predicting free PS Plus games before official reveals, now suggests that Sony’s new console variants will launch on November 10.
The report also mentions a Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 bundle scheduled to launch two days earlier on November 8.
While this is currently just a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt, it wouldn’t be surprising for Sony to launch the console on the mentioned date. As for the console itself, the price remains the same for the disc variant at $499, but the digital model now costs $449. Additionally, Sony has added the option to include a 4K Blu-ray disc drive to the digital model. The new model also comes with a default 1TB SSD—replacing the previous 825 GB SSD drive.
Furthermore, in contrast to the original PS5, which had two panels, the new model features four separate cover panels. The top panels have a glossy finish, while the bottom two panels come in a matte finish—similar to the outgoing model.
In related news, Sony has just launched Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console, which features both the Spider-Men—Peter Parker and Miles Morales take on multiple arch enemies including Kraven the hunter, Sandman, Lizard and of course, Venom.
