While the entire nation is focused on Team India’s ODI World Cup campaign at home, several uncapped cricketers are setting the domestic circuit ablaze with their commendable performances. Assam all-rounder Riyan Parag is one of them who has been on a phenomenal run in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and has made headlines with his batting heroics.

After missing out on a fifty against Odisha in Assam’s campaign opener, the 21-year-old bounced back stronger against Bihar with a 61-run knock and has been unstoppable since then. With 490 runs in 8 games, the Assam all-rounder is currently the leading scorer and averages 122.50.

A lot calmer and more mature than before
Speaking at the post-match show in Mohali after defeating Bengal, Parag said distancing himself from the outside noise has helped him turn more mature as a cricketer.
“I’ve become a lot calmer and more mature. Cutting off the outside noise that’s affected me the last two years. My pep talk before the game was to go out there and enjoy yourselves. It’s a young bunch of boys, it’s fun. Now we’ll dance and celebrate,” Parag said.
