Parag, who plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, has been leading his team by example in the domestic T20 tournament. On Tuesday night, he guided Assam to the quarter-final with a convincing win against Bengal in the pre-quarters in Mohali. He scored an unbeaten 50 off 31 balls, including four sixes and a couple of boundaries, safely taking his side home.

It was his seventh consecutive half-century in the tournament and the celebration after notching it has already taken the internet by storm.

Parag has been banging at the selectors’ door really hard with his phenomenal batting show in the ongoing tournament. After missing out on a fifty against Odisha in Assam’s campaign opener, the 21-year-old bounced back stronger against Bihar with a 61-run knock and has been unstoppable since then. With 490 runs in 8 games, the Assam all-rounder is currently the leading scorer and averages 122.50.

A lot calmer and more mature than before

Speaking at the post-match show in Mohali after defeating Bengal, Parag said distancing himself from the outside noise has helped him turn more mature as a cricketer.

“I’ve become a lot calmer and more mature. Cutting off the outside noise that’s affected me the last two years. My pep talk before the game was to go out there and enjoy yourselves. It’s a young bunch of boys, it’s fun. Now we’ll dance and celebrate,” Parag said.
