OnePlus Open has been launched in India and globally. This is the first foldable phone from the Chinese tech giant OnePlus, and it competes with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5. Both foldable phones are priced above 1 lakh in India.
The latest OnePlus Open foldable smartphone has a premium design and comes with top-end specifications. The OnePlus Open is priced at Rs 1,39,999 in India and it is coming in two colour options — Emerald Dusk and Voyage Black.
The foldable from OnePlus will be available in India via open sale from October 27 onwards.
OnePlus Open: 5 Things To Know About This Foldable Phone
OnePlus Open in black colour comes with a vegan leather back and it feels really premium. Weighting just 239 grams and measuring at 5.8mm when unfolded, the OnePlus Open is super light. Be it closed or open, the smartphone sits firmly in the hand. The device has a big circular camera module on the rear side, which offers Hasselblad-backed triple cameras.
The latest foldable also comes with the traditional OnePlus alert slider. The size of the slider has been increased, its position on the device mid-frame has been adjusted, making things more convenient for one-handed operation.
OnePlus Open comes with a Flexion Hinge mechanism, which makes it lightweight, compact, easy to hold and durable.
Coming to the display, the OnePlus Open comes with a 7.82-inch Flexi-fluid AMOLED main display and a 6.31-inch 2K fluid AMOLED ProXDR cover display and both displays have a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The cover display here is excellent (comfortable to use when compared to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 5). I didn’t really find a need to open the inner display till I switched to multi tasking.
When folded, the crease on the OnePlus Open is nearly invisible, making it one of the best I’ve seen on a foldable phone. The main screen of this OnePlus foldable reminds me of the Oppo Find N Fold, which I tested in 2021 because it also had no crease on the main screen.
The device is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage which is non-expandable. The OnePlus Open runs on Android 14 with Oxygen OS 13.2, sporting the open canvas, enhancing multi tasking.
The software has been tweaked to be compatible with a foldable that means multi-screen support and offer the fluidity for a seamless experience. More importantly, OnePlus announced that the foldable phone will get 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates.
The OnePlus Open has a triple rear camera system that consists of a 48MP sensor with OIS, a 48MP ultrawide sensor and a 64MP telephoto sensor, also with OIS.
The cover display has a 32MP shooter while the folded version features a 20MP camera. And finally, you have a 4805mAh battery that supports 67W fast wired charging but no wireless charging offered on the device.
