The pressure of 10th and 12th board exams starts building a year before. that is, from classes 9th and 11th. In such a situation, efforts are being made to reduce this pressure with the New Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) and new exam pattern. The format of education will completely change in the next few years. Preparations for this have also started.
The Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has made major changes in the exam pattern and marking scheme of classes 10 and 12 board exam pattern. This will reduce the study pressure on students and will also put some restrictions on the coaching culture.
CBSE board exam 2024 will start from February 15. The board has released the sample papers of classes 10 and 12 on the official website at cbse.gov.in. With this, students will get better information about the new exam pattern and marking scheme. The number of competency-based questions will be increased in the CBSE board exam 2024. With this, students can focus on understanding the subject instead of memorising it.
In class 10, there will be 50 per cent competency or case-based and other type questions, 20 per cent of questions will be response type, 20 per cent MCQ questions, and 30 per cent constructed response questions (short answer/long answer type questions).
In class 12, as many as 40 per cent of questions will be competency or case-based and other types, 20 per cent will be response type, 20 per cent MCQ questions, and 40 per cent will be constructed response questions (short answer/long answer type questions).
According to the new sample paper of the CBSE board, students will have to take the school pre-board exam before the main examination. The number of ability-based questions is being increased in the board exam to be held in 2024. A total of 50 per cent of questions in class 10 and 40 per cent of questions in class 12 will be ability-based. Objective, short-answer, and long-answer type questions will be also asked in the board exam. Students will have to write answers to 15 to 35 questions in three hours.
