Kareena Kapoor was asked to address her reported feud with Ameesha Patel in the new promo of Koffee With Karan 8. For the unversed, Kareena and Ameesha have been in an alleged tiff after Kareena was replaced from Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai with the Gadar star. Kareena was originally supposed to make her Bollywood debut with Hrithik Roshan in the film but was replaced a few days after the shoot began. Althought Ameesha spoke at length about it earlier this year, Karan Johar teased Kareena to speak about the alleged feud but she refused to engage.
“Why didn’t you attend the Gadar 2 success party?” Karan asked, poking fun at Kareena. “Because you and Ameesha Patel have such history,” he added. When Kareena asked him what he was referring to, Karan reminded her, “You were meant to do Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai.” Kareena turned her head away from Karan, looked at the audience seated in the room and said, “I’m ignoring Karan, as you’ll can see.”

The feud sparked in 2002 when Kareena gave an unfiltered opinion about Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. “The film was made for Hrithik. His dad spent five hours on every frame and close-up of his, whereas not even five seconds were spent on Ameesha. There are portions in the film where she has pimples and under-eye bags on her face. She just doesn’t look beautiful, but every shot of his was a dream. If I were in the film, I would have definitely got a better deal, but I still feel that the attention would have divided between us. So, I’m glad I didn’t do the film,” she said.
Earlier this year, Ameesha spoke with Siddharth Kannan and explained that the reason she remain tight-lipped after the comment was because she was taught not to be disrespectful towards anyone. “Kareena made a statement that if she’d done Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, she would’ve done a better job of it than I had. And she said that she would’ve stolen the limelight from Hrithik or something like that. And I also said, ‘Maybe. Maybe she would have, maybe she wouldn’t have’. The bottom line is that Sonia was me, I did justice to the character, the film was a hit. Nobody can run away from this reality. What I could’ve done replacing other girls in other films I don’t know. Maybe I would’ve done them worse, maybe I would’ve done them better,” she said.
The new episode Koffee With Karan 8 will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar this week.
