Despite enjoying a remarkable World Cup 2023 campaign, Virat Kohli could not guide Team India to the silverware this time. Kohli was the highest scorer of the World Cup and claimed the Player of the Tournament award because of his prolific batting.
The former India skipper registered 765 runs in 11 World Cup matches at an average of 95.62. His strike rate at the World Cup has also been a whopping 90.31. Kohli notched three centuries and six half-centuries in the tournament. Now, former Indian cricket team batting coach Sanjay Bangar has shared his views on Kohli’s future.

Bangar, who has closely observed Kohli in the international and domestic circuits, stated that the almighty has preserved “something special” for the India great.
“Virat’s desire to win the trophy, I feel he has God’s blessings, and probably God has saved something special for him. He (Kohli) crossed Sachin Tendulkar’s 49-century mark and Sachin also had to play his sixth World Cup for his first gold medal,” Bangar said during a discussion on Star Sports.
“Don’t know why God takes such tough examinations of such big players. That’s what I can understand – maybe destiny still wants him to play the next World Cup, and hope and pray that he gets that gold medal,” the former Royal Challengers Bangalore head coach added.
Virat Kohli recently succeeded in eclipsing legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record of 49 ODI tons at the World Cup. Kohli notched his 49th ODI century during a World Cup match against South Africa. Kohli brought up his 50th ODI hundred in the World Cup semi-finals against New Zealand.

After ending his stunning World Cup 2023 campaign, Virat Kohli and his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma returned to Mumbai. A video of the power couple’s arrival at the Mumbai airport has now gone viral. In the now-viral post on X, Kohli could be seen wearing a casual T-shirt and a pair of faded jeans. Anushka looked elegant in a salwar suit, complemented with a pair of black shades.
Despite Virat Kohli’s brilliant run of form, Team India could not claim the World Cup title this time. India’s 10-match unbeaten run came to an end in the final against Australia. The Pat Cummins-led side earned a six-wicket victory in the final to become the world champions.
