Legendary actor Jackie Chan is all smiles as he leads the way to kickstart the 2024 Paralympic Games. The 70-year-old made a remarkable appearance on August 28, carrying the iconic flame ahead of the opening ceremony. Chan was dressed in the traditional white tracksuit with his trademark black shades as he walked through the crowd and waved enthusiastically to fans in Paris. Besides, he also took selfies and pictures with many, as he enjoyed the time to the fullest before the star-studded curtain raiser.
The official X handle of Paris Paralympics 2024 shared a picture on social media, showing the Hollywood legend carrying the prestigious torch. “Jackie Flamme!” he wrote.

Following Chan’s involvement in the event, the excitement level for the Paralympic Games has reached the next level in Paris, which also hosted the Olympics earlier this month. Meanwhile, it was also a significant moment for the actor, as he has been a long-time advocate for the Games. His involvement dates back to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he took part in the relay alongside other Chinese celebrities like Zhang Ziyi of Crouching Tiger.

This year, Jackie Chan was joined by many other notable figures like French actress Elsa Zylberstein, dancer Benjamin Millepied, and rapper Georgio through the streets. The actor enjoys a significant fan following in France, thanks to his widely acclaimed films. His Rush Hour trilogy holds a special place in the city’s hearts for that memorable fight scene on the Eiffel Tower in the French capital.
The internet is also delighted as they got to witness Jackie Chan with the coveted torch. Many even shared that he should’ve gotten this honour in the Paris Olympics opening ceremony.
The 2024 Paralympic Games began with the opening ceremony on Wednesday, August 28, and will run over the next 11 days. Over 4,000 athletes will compete in 549 medal events across 22 various sports.
