The Kapoor Khandan is considered one of the most influential families in the world of cinema, having given numerous superstars in each generation. However, the same cannot be said for every member of the family, which includes Karan Kapoor, the son of a leading veteran actor, Shashi Kapoor.
Shashi Kapoor is recognized as a pivotal figure in the world of Indian cinema; a heartthrob who featured in some of the most iconic and evergreen releases of Bollywood. But, as fate would have its way, his children could not boast of the same level of success. The late actor’s younger son, Karan Kapoor tried his hand at Bollywood but failed badly.
Just like his grandfather and father, deemed as cinema icons, Karan Kapoor entered the film industry with the film Junoon, a 1978 release. The film was written and directed by Shyam Benegal while the producer was Shashi Kapoor. The cast included Shashi Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Jennifer Kendal and Naseeruddin Shah.
Karan Kapoor made his debut as a mainstream actor in the 1986 film, Sultanat. It is written as well as directed by Mukul S Anand. The ensemble cast included names like Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Sridevi, Karan Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Amrish Puri and Shakti Kapoor. It is produced by Arjun Hingorani.
As per more information given, for over ten years, Karan tried to make it to Bollywood, but luck was not on his side. As an actor, he appeared in five films, including Junoon, 36 Chowringhee Lane, Sultanat, Loha and Afsar. Apart from acting, he also modelled for big Indian brands like Bombay Dyeing.
Later, Karan Kapoor moved abroad and started a career in photography, proving to be a big success. Going by the reports, he is listed among the top photographers in the world. He currently lives in Chelsea, London. He is a father of two, a daughter Aliya Kapoor and a son Zak Kapoor, whom he shares with Lorna Kapoor.
