Alia Bhatt Gets Awkward, Says 'I'll Walk Off Stage' As Host Calls Her Global Icon: 'Please No' | Video
Alia Bhatt was seen getting awkward at the trailer launch of Poacher as the host praised her as an 'actor par excellence'.

Emmy Award-winning director Richie Mehta has returned with another investigative thriller titled Poacher. Alia Bhatt, who is the executive producer of the web series, was recently seen at the trailer launch that took place in Mumbai on Thursday. A video from the event has gone viral in which she could be seen getting awkward at her introduction.

In the now-viral clip, the host at the event began introducing Alia. Alia said, “Please, don’t. No no, don’t… You can tell me in my ear later.” When the host called her a global icon, Alia winced and said, “No no no, please. I’m gonna walk off stage.” She was visibly awkward as the host of the event praised her for her achievements.

The clip surfaced on the microblogging site Reddit and went viral in no time. One person wrote, “I don’t think she is being modest…I think she knows she’s gonna get dragged online for these superlatives .” Another added, “I’d take celebrities being fake modest over watching them with their superiority complex any day.” Praising Alia’s outfit, one person wrote, “I love the colour of her suit. Surprisingly it stands out even with the green background.” “The ombre looks so good,” another comment read.

Speaking about the series, Alia said at the event, “Richie has told this story so beautifully. It moved me emotionally, and physically towards him and I told him, ‘Tell me what I can do and how can I help’. My partner/sister Shaheen Bhatt and our business head Grishma, are a tiny team of three. But we really believe that we would like to be a part of stories that move and impact you and stir some sort of conversation. We went through an interrogation with Richie after we watched it. I can write it here and tell you that your minds are going to be blown.”

Alia was joined by Roshan Mathew and Dibyendu Bhattacharya, both of whom play leads in the eight-episode series, which will stream from February 23, on Prime Video.
