Director Aishwarya Rajinikanth, a prominent filmmaker in Tamil cinema is currently in the headlines for pledging to support the directors association. In a recent event, she has supported the Directors’ Association. As per the reports, she promised to provide Rs 10 Lakh annually for the educational assistance of the directors’ and assistant directors’ children. In the first instalment, Aishwarya donated Rs 5 Lakh to the director’s association. Reportedly, she has promised to donate the remaining Rs 5 Lakh this year. In the pictures from the event, she was captured handing over the cheque to RK Selvamani, Perarasu, Saran and other members of the association. The director received appreciation from the users for their donation to the director’s association.

On the professional front, Aishwarya Rajinikanth last directed the film Lal Salaam which received mixed reviews. However, the 42-year-old director is not bothered about the criticism faced by the film. In an interview with NDTV, she said, “I am extremely satisfied as a learner and filmmaker. The film is based on true incidents and hence there is no revelation or twists as such in the film. So, when we had the option to do a linear or non-linear pattern, we went in for the latter since the story is straightforward.” The 43-year-old filmmaker said that she takes both criticism and appreciation equally and happily.

Lal Salaam starred an ensemble star cast of actors Rajinikanth, KS Ravikumar, Nirosha, Senthil and others. Backed by Lyca Productions, this film released at the cinemas on February 9, 2024.

Even after 6 months of its release, there has been no update about the Lal Salaam’s OTT release date. Now, Aishwarya Rajinikanth has come up with an update about its release. In a recent interview, she said that an extended director’s cut of the film will soon be available on OTT. The Laal Salaam director said this would be different from the theatrical version. She said that some of the film’s lost footage has been retrieved which has been added to this cut. The 42-year-old director added she was particular about the extended cut to be in the same way the film was written.
