Fenugreek Seed Water To Cinnamon Tea, Drinks To Regulate Blood Sugar Level
Nutritionist Lovneet Batra has shared some tips to keep blood sugar under control.

Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs either when the pancreas is unable to produce enough insulin for our body or when we cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. Failure to regulate the sugar level in our blood over time leads to serious damage to many of our body systems, especially the nerves and blood cells. According to the National Library of Medicine, deaths due to diabetes are expected to reach over 9 lakh by 2045. Poor lifestyle, physical inactivity, lack of exercise, poor eating habits and obesity are some of the major causes of diabetes. In such a situation, nutritionist Lovneet Batra has shared some tips to keep blood sugar under control.

In her Instagram post, Lovneet Batra claimed that India is considered the diabetes capital of the world with total cases at around 62 million. “Various causes are ascribed to diabetes, which includes genetic, environmental and lifestyle changes associated with more urbanisation in India,” wrote Lovneet Batra. She believes that consuming drinks made from natural ingredients can help people in controlling their blood sugar levels. She mentions the addition of three beverages in the diet to keep the glucose level in the blood under control.

Fenugreek seed water:

Fenugreek is very beneficial for health. Fenugreek seed water is also healthy for diabetic patients, as it contains soluble fibre including glucomannan fibre, which delays the absorption of ingested sugar in the intestines. Alkaloids such as fenugreek and trigonelline possess hypoglycemic action and the 4 hydroxyisoleucine (4-OH Ile) amino acids. They act on the pancreas to release insulin. In such a situation, it is believed that you can keep your sugar level under control by drinking fenugreek seed water.

Giloy water

Giloy contains an alkaloid compound called berberine. It is a traditional herbal beverage. As per Lovneet Batra, studies have shown that it reduces blood sugar. Berberine works similarly to the diabetes drug metformin which is often given to patients. Giloy also has many other health benefits which can protect you from many other diseases.

Cinnamon Tea

Cinnamon increases glycogen storage by affecting glycogen synthesis. The natural elements found in cinnamon work as insulin to keep the blood sugar level stable. You can consume it regularly in limited quantities through your food.
