BCCI President Sourav Ganguly was scheduled to play a match at Eden Gardens on the occasion of Azadi Ki amrit Maha Utsav. This match is scheduled to be played against India Maharajas vs World XI at Eden on September 16.
People were also ready to watch the reunion of former cricketers. Ganguly was very excited about the match because at one time, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh played under his leadership. But this time the city residents have to be in a bit of despair because even if the rest of the former players play, maybe Sourav will not be seen playing the game.
According to sources, Sourav Ganguly has withdrawn from the game citing personal reasons. The project has Sourav Ganguly’s childhood friend Sanjay Das in a major role. Ganguly’s exit from the game is expected to reduce the huge interest that was generated. Many would have gone to the ground to see Sourav’s batting and aggressive captaincy once again, which may not happen again.
