Mohammad Yunus operated a roadside stall in Talgram Nagar Panchayat, Chhibramau, where he provided various services including haircuts and massages. The video prompted significant backlash, particularly from Hindu organisations, with former BJP MP Subrat Pathak denouncing the act as “spit jihad” and calling for immediate police intervention.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) workers also staged a protest and demanded strict action against the salon owner, reported ABP News. According to reports, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Shashank Singh and the customer, Pandit Ashish Kumar from Unnao, gave an FIR under relevant sections in this connection after which the accused barber was arrested and sent to judicial custody.
In response to the FIR, the police apprehended Yunus, who had been evading arrest after the video surfaced. He is currently in custody and is being questioned in connection with charges related to hurting public sentiments.
