New Delhi: After introducing the Mi 3 and Redmi 1S, Xiaomi has now launched its third smartphone in India - the Redmi Note. The company, currently, has launched the 3G version of the Redmi Note smartphone in India at a price of Rs 8,999. The 4G version will be introduced in India soon, says Xiaomi.

The Redmi Note will be available exclusively via Flipkart starting December 2. The phone will, however, be up pre-order from November 25 (starting 6PM).

The Xiaomi Redmi Note is a 5.5-inch smartphone and has an octa-core MTK 6592 1.7GHz processor, 13 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera. Its display resolution is the same 1280x720 as in the Redmi 1S.

The Redmi Note has 2GB RAM and an internal memory of 8GB (expandable upto 32GB). The dual-SIM Redmi Note comes with a 3100mAh battery.

Xiaomi, seen as China's affordable answer to Apple, replaced Samsung as China's largest smartphone vendor in the second quarter, according to data from Canalys.

In India the company saw more than 1,00,000 people pre-register for a supply of 10,000 phones when it launched in July.

Xiaomi, which sells its phones exclusively through e-commerce website Flipkart.com in India, is looking to find a foothold in a market that has at least 80 different phone companies fighting it out for market share.
