CHENNAI: Independence Day is an important day for many and for the government school students living in and around Thirunindravur, Independence Day this year was special. Around 370 students attended a career guidance session, conducted by Indiasudar Educational and Charitable Trust, an NGO. The programme was jointly organised by Udhavum Nanbargal. Headed by Dr M Chidambaram, a professor at IIT-Madras, the programme was presented by Balamanikandan, a trustee of Indiasudar and an IAS aspirant. The students were surprised, but thrilled at the same time, on learning that they had career options beyond engineering and medicine. The event was a blessing in disguise for the kids who could not afford to spend much money on college education. Indiasudar members also distributed Uyarkalvi Vazhikaatti, a career guidance booklet in Tamil, to the students for free of cost. A special session on civil service examination was also conducted for the few college students in the group. For details, call 98841 53800.
