Two persons, including an AGM, involved in construction of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raebareli allegedly received extortion threats, following which two FIRs have been lodged in this connection, police said.

The incident took place on the night of August 7 when around 8-10 unidentified persons threatened Nandan Singh Rawat, AGM of the agency constructing AIIMS here, Superintendent of Police N Kolanchi said.

The accused forced Rawat to speak to a person, who identified himself as Pushpendra Singh, according to a complaint filed by Kailash Chandra, project manager the project.

Singh demanding Rs two crore as extortion money from Rawat and threatened him with dire consequences if he fails to fulfill the demand.

A case has been lodged at Kotwali Police Station against 8-10 persons in this connection.

Meanwhile, another officer of the agency, Swapnesh Timodhi informed Bhadokhar Police Station that Pushpendra Singh along with his five-six aides came to site office again yesterday and issued similar threats, the SP said.

A separate FIR had been lodged at Bhadokhar Police Station and the matter is under investigation, he said.
