HYDERABAD: In a novel way, members of the Telangana Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (TTJAC) on Sunday appealed to Mahatma Gandhi to give wisdom to the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre to take a right decision on formation of a separate T state.A delegation comprising, TTJAC chairman B Bhujanga Rao and secretary-general M Ravinder, garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi near Parklane on MG Road and placed a memorandum before it on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. They also prayed for enlightenment of all political parties on the need to create a separate Telangana to uphold the self-respect of people of the region. In its memorandum, the TTJAC alleged that though people of Telangana region had been fighting for a separate state for the past five and half decades, industrialists and landlords from Seemandhra region had suppressed their voice.Telangana has been subjected to oppression and neglect for decades, particularly in the areas of education, irrigation, agriculture, industry and employment.Till date, more than 1,000 students and youngsters had sacrificed their lives for the Telangana cause.Despite Sakala Janula Samme in Telangana for the past 20 days, the UPA Government is yet to respond to the popular demand for a separate Telangana, the TTJAC said.
