Social Worker Files Complaint Against Shivraj Singh Chouhan's Padmavati Ban
Yet to receive a response to the legal notice that he had sent to the chief minister, Harimohan Bhasneria filed the private complaint in Gwalior on Thursday.

Gwalior: A Gwalior resident has filed appealed to the JMFC court seeking to file a case against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan against his announcement to ban Padmavati.

The court would take a call on accepting the complaint on December 18. The complaint was filed on Thursday.

Social worker Harimohan Bhasneria (24) had earlier served a legal notice to the chief minister saying that the ban on the upcoming movie is ‘illegal’. He argued that the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is yet to take a call on the certification of the film and banning it even before that procedure is completed, is illegal.

Yet to receive a response to the legal notice that he had sent to the chief minister, Bhasneria filed the private complaint in Gwalior on Thursday.

In the complaint, the social worker through his counsel Purushottam Rai, told the court that CM Chouhan has a habit of giving misleading statements.

“He announced a ban on liquor in Madhya Pradesh from October 2, 2017, which did not happen,” said the complaint.

Bhasneria then spoke of the time when Chouhan boasted of MP’s roads being better than Washington, whereas the truth is that the roads are in a deplorable condition.

The complaint states that despite the fact that the Supreme Court has made it clear that any decision prior to the CBFC call on the film is not proper, the CM Chouhan went on to announce the ban. He kept speaking about Padmavati even as the SC had restrained politicians from making adverse remarks on the upcoming flick.

“In the complaint, we have sought registration of a case against the chief minister under Sections 200, 290, 295A, 298, 419, 420, 504 and 505,” Bhasneria told News18 over phone, claiming that he has submitted evidence to support his allegations.

Amid stiff opposition from the Rajput community, CM Chouhan had on November 20 announced to ban the screening of the film over ‘tampering of history’.
