BHUBANESWAR: In a novel endeavour, S TV Samachar is collecting coconuts from the doorsteps of people to be offered to Lord Jagannath at Puri on July 12, on the day of Sunabesha. With six vehicles, decorated like chariots, moving across the State to collect the coconuts, people’s response has been excellent.S TV Samchar embarked upon the initiative - Kichhi Magunahin Tote - to galvanise the devotion of the millions of people who worship Lord Jagannath.Kichhi Magunahin Tote is based on the famous legend of Dasia Bauri, a staunch devotee of Lord Jagannath who could please the God with his faith and almost forced Him to accept his offerings in the form of a coconut. The story has its roots in the sociological dynamics since Dasia, a man from lower strata of society, could not reach Puri but such was his devotion that the God accepted the coconut he had offered from afar sending a message that caste is never a bar to reach out to the Almighty.According to Chief Executive Officer of S TV Samachar Pratap Aditya Mishra, following the overwhelming response, the channel has decided to make similar efforts every year.
