Prabhas, one of the most bankable action stars in Indian cinema, is celebrated for his ability to transform physically for his roles. From his imposing, muscular look as Amarendra Baahubali in the Baahubali franchise to the remarkable body transformation he underwent for Adipurush, the actor is known for his dedication to his craft. Prabhas follows an intense fitness regime, maintaining strict workout routines, diet plans, and a disciplined lifestyle tailored to each of his roles.
On his 45th birthday, let’s dive deeper and take a closer look at the Prahbas’ outstanding fitness journey and his preparations for a role.
Baahubali Films
Baahubali, the film that transformed Prabhas’s career, hit screens in 2015 and was nothing short of a cinematic phenomenon. It brought the actor immense national recognition, establishing him as a pan-Indian superstar.
If reports are to be believed, Prabhas had to put on around 20 kg of muscle to fit the part. He was even gifted gym equipment worth Rs 1.5 crore to prepare for the role while being trained by bodybuilder Laxman Reddy. Apart from the intense workout sessions, he also followed a proper diet that consisted of fish, egg whites, almonds, vegetables, meat, and cheese to gain the carbs. He literally went from 82 kilos to 102 kilos for Baahubali and trained for close to half a year.
Saaho
After his incredibly toned and muscular physique in Baahubali, Prabhas transitioned to a leaner look for his 2019 film Saaho. His personal trainer revealed a few secrets from his preparation.
“To lose 10 kilos for Saaho, he would indulge in hour-long cardio sessions, which would include swimming, cycling, or playing volleyball. “He loves to play sports, and we play together. He also enjoys intensive training. For Prabhas, fitness training is a stress-buster,” Reddy said. He also shared how the actor was put on a seven-meal diet, involving good portions of carbs and protein.
Adipurush
Prabhas underwent a “remarkable body transformation” for his role as Lord Ram for the 2023 film Adipurush, as confirmed by director Om Raut.
Considering the action scenes, Prabhas worked hard to remain at the top of his fitness levels. Besides regular workouts, he also followed a diet with a lot of protein. “There is a lot of physical transformation that Prabhas has undergone from an artist’s point of view, and he continues to work on it even now as we shoot,” Raut told the Times Of India.
Salaar: Part 1
Prabhas put in immense effort to build muscle for his role in Salaar: Part 1. Speaking at an interview, he once said, “I haven’t done anything special; Prashanth [Neel] wanted me to build muscles for the character, so I changed myself accordingly. This was a common thing for me. There was not much transformation that I have done in the last 21 years.”
Kalki 2898 AD
After his performances in action-packed films like Saaho and Salaar, Prabhas surprised fans with a much leaner look in Kalki 2898 AD. Pictures from the film’s sets left fans surprised with his unbelievable transformation.
