Ahmedabad: The lawyers of self-styled godman Asaram's son Narayn Sai have released an advertisement in local newspapers in Gujarat claiming that their client is not absconding. In the ad they have claimed that Narayan Sai is innocent and that the case lodged against him is false. The ad published in Gujarati claims that Narayan Sai will seek legal recourse.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi summoned the DGP on Wednesday asking him for an update on the investigation in the sexual assault case against Asaram and Narayan Sai. The Gujarat police are now looking at getting his custody but his son is still reportedly absconding despite lookout notices against him.
"He used to ask me repeatedly to come to him. He would always want me around. And he used to send girls to those who worked under him," alleged one of the sisters.
After the FIR by the elder sister against Asaram, a team from the Ahmedabad police has left for Jodhpur to take custody of Asaram from a Jodhpur prison where he was facing trial for allegedly assaulting another minor girl.
Clearly, the Ahmedabad police have found some substance in the complaint that has been filed by this 31-year-old victim. Asaram is expected to be brought back to Ahmedabad from Jodhpur on Thursday.
The police have already issued a lookout notice for Narayan Sai and have formed 6 teams to trace him. This is on the basis the FIR lodged with the Surat Police by the younger sister alleging sexual assault.
Meanwhile, another case has been reopened by the Madhya Pradesh police case against Asaram that dates back to 2011. The case pertains to the suspicious death of a 30-year-old man who was Asaram's disciple.
